The liberalization of market economies and globalization requires German firms to prepare for opportunities not only in the new EU member countries, but also worldwide. This is the only way to survive in the globalized economy. Access to venture capital and protection from risk in international projects is of great importance for the companies involved in such business. The increasing pressure from competition on global level, creativity in Project Preparation, Project Implementation and Financing Arrangements will be the decisive factor in acquiring new business. There are several ways in obtaining funds to secure financing for international projects: Utilization of the Financing Programs of Development Banks, Classical Export Financing with Hermes-Guarantees, Structured Project-Financing. To develop and maintain such expertise within the own company is not necessary and also not cost effective. It is, however, mandatory to be well aware of all practical and structural issues for a successful entry into the market.

Public Sector

The recent and envisaged expansion of the European Union provides the public sector in the new and the prospective member countries access to substantial Investment funds.  The EU and the international development finance institutions offer a variety of support programs particularly for the improvement of physical infrastructure in member countries. The application for such funds of the European Union and the international development finance institutions like the World Bank are, however, subject to very stringent und continuously changing rules and formalities. Very frequently such applications are unsuccessful due to submission of incomplete and faulty documents.
